What is the Gospel?

At it’s core, the gospel is all about Jesus.

So…who is Jesus?

He is gentle.

A friend of sinners.

The Good Shepard.

The Lamb of God.

The Light of the World.

Our Rock.

Our Hope.

Our Peace.

Our Salvation.

And that’s just a short list.

Jesus is everything.

So why does Jesus matter?

Do you feel empty?

You can be filled.

Are you sick?

You can be healed.

Do you feel dead?

You can be brought to life.

Jesus restores. He refreshes. He saves.

With Jesus, you are given a new purpose, a new identity, and a new life.

How?

That’s the good news.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:4-7

Follow Jesus:

When you place your faith in Christ, you move from sinner to saint. Heaven has bathed you.

God never tires of giving. Even when we are not grateful: he gives and gives. Let his love wash over you. It is who he is.

Plunge into the oceanic love of Christ. You will never step outside his divine love.

Union with Christ releases us to be who God created us to be.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

It’s simple: if you spend your life working for sin, you will earn death. But if you recognize your need for a savior you will be gifted life.

“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”

Romans 10:9

We never graduate from the gospel. Here at Raleigh, it guides and informs everything we do.

  • “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

  • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

  • “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

  • “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’”

  • “for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

  • “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

  • “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

  • “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

  • “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”
